Wood, canvas and paper
The surface I touch with a brush, influences the way I approach the painting.
Wooden panel feels solid, tight and static. Besides the wood has a life of its own. Traditionally icons are painted on wood. When I paint on wood, I try to embrace this qualities of wood and create images that breeze those static eternal qualities of life. A wooden panes invites me to paint an Icon.
Canvas is a place for experimentation with materials and ways of expression. It gives me freedom for a mistake, but also its makes space for revelation. For me painting on canvas is always a big adventure. It is dynamic and unpredictable.
A sheet of paper feels lightweight und almost ethereal. The images I create on paper are lighthearted snapshots of some inner movements. They live the meditation of repetition and an innocence of the immediate expression.
